The fire at Boney Kapoor’s family bungalow has destroyed the entire 1st floor, leaving the Kapoor family distraught homeless and disoriented.
Says a close family friend of the couple, “The entire floor comprising Boney and Sridevi’s master-bedroom , daughter Jhanvi and daughter Khushi’s rooms is badly damaged. Jhanvi’s room where the short-circuit started is entirely gutted.Luckily the girl was awake and saw the fire. Otherwise God knows what would have happened. Boney’s mother had to be carried down by the stairs after the fire. While Boney has taken the calamity in his stride, Sridevi and their daughters are numbed with shock and disbelief.”
While Boney’s mother who stays in the gutted family-bungalow with him, has shifted to her youngest son Sanjay Kapoor’s home, Boney and Sridevi have shifted to the Sun ‘n’ Sand hotel.
Their two daughters spent Saturday and Sunday night at neighbour Raj Kumar Santoshi house.
Says the family friend, “Santoshi’s daughter is a very close friend of Jhanvi. Boney’s two daughters spent the last two nights at Santoshi’s bungalow. But the girls want their home back.And that’s impossible. Boney and Sridevi visited their gutted bungalow on Sunday night. They were shocked by the devastation. The entire 1st floor is a mess.Jhanvi’s room is gone.And the rest of the floor has been destroyed more by the water sprayed by the fire brigade than by the fire.”
Boney is now in search of an alternate accommodation for his family.
Says the friend, “The bungalow will take months to be repaired. Boney owns two other homes in Mumbai. One is rented out to Prabhudheva and the other has been kept locked, hence it is not maintained.So Boney is in search of a home for his family.”
While friends have reached out to the couple, Boney and Sridevi are currently going through a crisis that no one can share or understand.
Says the family friend, “Friends would never understand what it is to lose your home like this. Sridevi had done up the entire floor as her dream home. The master bedroom was equipped with all her most cherished artifacts and wardrobe space. Now all of it is gone. When Sridevi saw what had happened to her dream home she broke down and wept.”
