Akshay Kumar shares heartwarming song Teri Mitti to salute the medical staff on behalf of the entire country

The outbreak of Coronavirus has gripped the entire world including India. Government bodies and organizations alike have been trying to make people aware of the virus and the precautionary measures to avoid the same. In this difficult situation, our Bollywood celebrities are also trying to make citizens aware of this deadly virus through their social media accounts.  From sharing motivational posts to interesting videos and even raising awareness about this deadly virus, these celebrities are doing every bit to motivate the fans to hang in a little longer against coronavirus outbreak. 
 
While due to the lockdown citizens have been staying indoors, there are many unsung heroes in the country who have been struggling hard to curb the situation caused by the Coronavirus crisis. And in order to express gratitude toward the doctors, Akshay Kumar along with Karan Johar and others have come up with a special gesture for these soldiers in white. They have come with an inspirational song Teri Mitti- Tribute which is a recreated version of the popular song Teri Mitti from his film Kesari. Yesterday after sharing the teaser of the song, the makers have released the track today. 
 
 
Teri Mitti is sung by renowned singer B Praak who had also sung the original track. In light of the recent incidents taken place, the tribute also pleads to the audience across the country and the world, to ensure the utmost respect and gratitude to the medical staff and the doctors. A special message in the end by Akshay Kumar is sure to bring a smile on all the faces!

Earlier, Salman Khan also sang the song 'Pyaar Karona' on the ongoing pandemic as he spread the message of love, kindness and patience in this crisis situation. Even John Abraham recited a motivational poem, 'Mera Bharat Mahaan' praising the medical team and the cops who are risking their lives to improve the situation amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Akshay along with Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday, Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon and others had also collaborated for the song Muskurayega India. Sung by Vishal Mishra, this motivational track motivated the citizens for a better tomorrow.

Paatal Lok: Anushka Sharma releases the teaser for upcoming Amazon Prime series; Here’s when it will premiere

Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, since theatres across the nation are shut, and film shootings stalled, there will be some time before fans can watch a new film on the silver screen. However, amidst these gloomy times, what comes as a ray of hope for all movies-buffs is Amazon Original Series new show- Paatal Lok. Today, Amazon Prime Video revealed the logo and announced the launch date of its new series- Paatal Lok. Produced by Clean Slate Films, Paatal Lok marks the digital debut of Anushka Sharma as a producer. Inspired by the ancient realms of Swargalok (heaven), Dharti Lok (earth), and Patal Lok (netherworld), the series explores the interplay within the four estates of democracy.

In the video, viewers are given a glimpse into a seemingly peaceful world that nurses a dormant, dark and dangerous underbelly.  The video of Paatal Lok explores the dark bylanes of immorality, and questions the darker side of humanity, and the series is filled with thrill and drama. Paatal Lok stars Neeraj Kabi, Gul Panag and Jaideep Ahlawat in the lead roles, and Patal Lok is about relationships and love at different stages of life, like in the late 30s, in 20s, and early 60s & late 50s. Today, Anushka Sharma took to social media to announce the release date of the series as she wrote, “From the underbelly comes a crime thriller that will change how you look at the world you live in. #PaatalLok #NewSeriesOnPrime, May 15.”

Earlier, Anushka had shared another teaser for the show which showed blood spattering on screen while a voice said, “The countdown has begun. To change the law of the land, a few worms have crept in, who will spread terror and shed blood. They will turn the world into a living hell.”

Anime series One Piece to begin streaming on Netflix from June 12

Netflix recently announced that it is to begin streaming Anime series One Piece from June 12. The first two arcs of the One Piece anime, the East Blue and Alabasta arcs specifically, have been extremely popular among the youth. In view of the Coronavirus pandemic when people are taking to digital platforms for news and entertainment, the news of the two arcs being aired on Netflix comes a delight for all the Anime fans.

 

The first two sagas of One Piece will be marking a return of the anime to Netflix ahead of the live-action adaptation planned. This serves as a perfect opportunity to introduce more people to the series. However, it's unclear how well the series will translate into a live-action adaptation. On Wednesday, the post put up by the official Twitter handle of Netflix announced that the first two sagas of One Piece will be available to stream from June 12 in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

 

 

The Anime follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy who aspires to become the King of all pirates. As he goes about his quest, he meets many people in his journey, Roronoa Zolo, a skilled swordsman, Nami, a greedy thief who has a knack for navigation, Usopp, a great liar who is also an inventor, Sanji, a warrior cook, Chopper, a deer who is also a skilled physician and Robin, a former member of Baroque Works. The anime has been delaying the 930th episode and later episodes due to the spread of coronavirus. The 930th episode was scheduled to air on April 26, however, anime's broadcast will now rerun the 892nd episode instead.

Happy Birthday Varun Dhawan: Five characters of Coolie No.1 star we wish he played more often

It has been eight long years since he made his debut on the silver screen, but Varun Dhawan has quickly risen to the ranks and gone on to become one of the top actors in Bollywood. Today, as the actor celebrates his 33rd birthday,  we decided to take a look at Varun's filmography. 
 
Varun has often played the goofy kind, but his characters in a few films have made him stand out. We listed five such characters of Varun that we would love to see him portray more often. 
 
1. Dan in October
 
 
Varun Dhawan as Dan -- a hotel management intern stole the show with his seemingly subtle acting and unconventional role. Unlike any other Varun Dhawan movie, the actor surprised many including the critics with Shoojit Sircar's October. There was something so calming about watching Varun onscreen not busting dance moves or in loud costumes. 
 
2. Raghav in Badlapur 
 
 
Termed as many by the new-age romcom hero, Varun proved many wrong when he starred as Raghav in Sriram Raghavan's action thriller Badlapur. Varun did complete justice to the negative colours of his character as he avenged the death of his wife and son opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The actor was hailed for his work in Badlapur. However, it has been 5 years since then and we would love to see Varun experimenting with another such role.
 
3. Mauji Sharma in Sui Dhaga 
 
 
Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaga may have not created the desired magic at the box office, but Varun as Mauji Sharma was believable and raw. The actor aced his character as a villager who rises to the ranks with sheer hard work. Varun as Mauji kept us hooked and we hope more characters like these are offered to the actor. 
 
4. Badrinath Bansal in Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya 
 
 
Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's chemistry onscreen has always been a winner. The actors have given us some entertaining films and Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya was one such film. Varun as Badri was fun, vulnerable and challenged the patriarchal norms of his family. Given Varun's massive fan following, the actor must consider film subjects which are an eye-opener and put the message across in an entertaining manner. 
 
5. Suresh Suru Mukund in ABCD 2 
 
 
Remo D'Souza's dance films may not be the  best in Bollywood, but they indeed do justice to Varun Dhawan's moves. The actor, who is also a great dancer, was a treat to watch performing some complicated dance routines on the big screen. While we would love to see more of Varun The Dancer, we hope it's a much better script.

Enviously he got married to Ankita Konwar in 2018 and celebrated his second marriage anniversary with her on April 22. Milind as Dr Aamir Waris is surely setting the screens on fire and in an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, we asked him if Ankita ever felt insecure of him performing intimate scenes onscreen. 
 
"No," came his prompt reply and he added, "She was very cool with it. In fact, when I got the first season, I read the script with her and there were, of course, sex scenes, me walking in my underwear on the table, she was like 'Ohh, this will be interesting'. She was actually very excited about it." When asked if they have watched the season themselves, Milind added, "We haven't been able to. But we will definitely try to catch up pretty soon."
 
Meanwhile, about celebrating their anniversary, Milind revealed, "It was not what we wanted. It was fun but we just did an extra set of exercises. We climbed 300 stairs extra in our building. Earlier, the plan was to go on a holiday, we had planned 2-3 months before but yes, it couldn't happen. But anyway it is nice, it is fun. America's Got Talent 4 finalist and comedian Grandma Lee passes away at the age of 85

Ace comedian Grandma Lee who initially rose to fame after having participated in the fourth season of America’s Got Talent has passed away at the age of 85 years. For the unversed, she was one of the finalists of the much-loved show. This piece of news has been confirmed by her son Kelly who has stated that the lady was staying at the living facility located in Jacksonville, Florida where she breathed her last on Friday i.e. on April 24, 2020.

He further reveals that his mom had been doing shows until November last year. She, however, fell in a hotel room and then broke her hip. Kelly then reveals sadly that Grandma never recovered thereafter. According to their family source, Grandma Lee left for her heavenly abode while holding the hands of her two sons. She had been reportedly spending the last days of her life reading posts on Facebook as well as texts from her fans.

However, the service for her memorial stands postponed because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic that has hit every part of the world. Talking about her career, the lady took part in the popular reality show America’s Got Talent back in 2009 and the rest is history. However, she could not win the title and was eliminated after reaching the grand finale. Her absence will always be felt in the world of entertainment for all the obvious reasons.

The very beautiful Divyanka Tripathi is currently under home quarantine with her husband Vivek Dahiya just like everyone else. The two of them are quite active on social media and their frequent posts prove the same. Talking about the power couple, they got married in 2016 much to the excitement of their fans. As of now, both of them are considered one of the most adorable and happiest couples of the Indian television industry for reasons that are quite obvious.  

Coming back to Divyanka, the actress herself enjoys a huge fan following and is considered one of the most popular television actresses. From playing board games to clicking goofy selfies to working out, Virat and Anushka have been doing it all and making sure to update their fans about the same on the gram. Now, a few weeks back, Virat Kohli was interacting on Instagram live with his RCB teammate when wifey Anushka Sharma left a message on the chat saying ‘Dinner is served’ and Virat had a good laugh over it.

 And today, when Virat was again live on Instagram with AB de Villiers, Anushka Sharma came in to the room and sweetly switched on the lights since she realized that Virat was sitting in the dark, and on seeing this, Virat said, ‘Thank You Love’ and it made all of us go aww. Well, it truly was an aww-worthy moment. That said, amidst the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have pledged their support to the Prime Minister Relief Fund and the Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund, to help fight the Coronavirus pandemic. “Anushka and I are pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund & the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many & we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens #IndiaFightsCorona,” they wrote on social media.

On the work front, Anushka Sharma was last seen in Anand L.Rai’s Zero co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif and as of now, she hasn’t announced her next film. Also, Anushka is all set to come up with a new web series as producer on Amazon Prime Video web series, bankrolled by her production house Clean Slate Company titled Paatal Lok.

Now, as per reports, it was being said that Varun’s family had planned on making the announcement of Varun and Natasha’s engagement on the actor’s birthday. However, due to the pandemic and lockdown, the family didn’t go ahead with the announcement. During an interview, daddy David Dhawan said that Varun’s birthday would be a quiet family affair and talking about his son, Varun said that ever since the lockdown, Varun has been with the family, and taking care of everyone and especially his father as he is diabetic.

On the work front, Varun Dhawan will next be seen in David Dhawan’s Coolie No 1 opposite Sara Ali Khan, and when Davif was asked about the fate of Coolie No 1, the filmmaker had said that since it is his 45th film as a director, people will want to watch comedy [post the crisis] and as for the film’s status, David revealed that work on the film is underway. Coolie No 1 is a remake of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor’s film by the same name and Varun’s film was slated to release on May 1, 2020, however, owing to the lockdown, a new release date may be out soon.

Marvel’s Spider Man 3, Doctor Strange 2 and Thor: Love and Thunder shift release dates

Hollywood is continuing to shuffle more release dates due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As the world stops to take a collective deep breath, the production of movies, serials, and TV shows have been put on hold amid the ongoing COVID 19 lockdown. The latest movies to join the list are Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man 3. Sony Pictures and The Walt Disney Co. announced the revised theatrical release schedules on April 24 and confirmed the delay.

The sequel of Marvel’s Benedict Cumberbatch starrer 2016 film has been pushed back from November 2021 to March 2022. Meanwhile, Sony has decided to delay the release of its upcoming Spider-Man film, third in the Tom Holland series. The film which was earlier scheduled to release in July 2021, will now hit the movie theatres in November 2021, Fox News reported. In addition to this, the sequel of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will release in October 2022. The animated film was originally scheduled to come out in April 2022.

While the release dates of these films were pushed back, not all the changes announced about the Marvel films were delays. Disney announced that Chris Hemsworth starrer Thor: Love and Thunder will be pushed up a week to February 2022. The eagerly awaited film will feature Natalie Portman taking up the hammer. Following the advice of healthcare professionals across the world, the production of various Hollywood projects were shut in order to promote the practice of social distancing. This caused a domino effect and has even taken a toll on the film releasing in 2022.

Just days after Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds decided to put their feud on hold in support of Coronavirus relief efforts, Hugh took a dig at the Deadpool actor. In a video shared by Ryan on Instagram earlier this month, the two actors announced to support the All In Challenge, an initiative focused on providing food and supplies to people in need amid the ongoing pandemic. However, in his recent appearance Today show, the actor clarified that just because their feud is under a temporary ceasefire, does not mean it is over.

“It is not over. But look, we’re in extraordinary times,” he said. He revealed that it was his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, and Ryan’s wife Blake Lively, who helped them put their differences aside. “Deb actually said to me, really, this is a time to rethink all that and maybe it’s time to build a bridge. I wasn’t ready for that, but then Blake reached out. Blake and Deb have been brokering this thing and we came up with participating in the All In Challenge.” The 51-year-old actor further mentioned that he and Deborra are worried about Blake.

“So we’re gonna do a lemonade stand together. Whoever wins we’re gonna go and do a lem— I mean, that’s how much I really wanna support the frontline workers and make sure people have food and all of that sort of thing,” he added. He joked about how difficult it must be for Blake to deal with Ryan every day amid the Coronavirus lockdown. “We’ve been reaching out to Blake, we talk to her, ‘cause can you imagine quarantine, stuck in the house with Ryan? It must be brutal for her. So we’re really reaching out,” he said.

The holy month of Ramadan has begun and Muslims across the nation will observe fasting or Rozas from April 24, 2020. Amid the lockdown, Hina Khan has also tried her hands at cooking as the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress tried whipping up pancakes in her kitchen. Now on the work front, Hina’s short film titled Smartphone released on April 24 on Ullu aap. In the film, Hina plays a small-town girl, Suman, who hails from Kasganj and in the film, she will be seen in a never seen before avatar as her character Suman, is an ordinary small-town girl who wears saris, bindi, bangles and sindoor.

For all those who don’t know, post Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Smartphone was the first acting project that Hina had shot and during an interview, Hina said that her biggest challenge in the film was to get the accent right and Hina feels that the USP of Smartphone would be the message of women empowerment and girl power. On the work front, Hina Khan was last seen in Vikram Bhatt's Hacked and next, she will be seen in Zee5's digital film, Unlock: The Haunted App, which also stars Kushal Tandon in the lead.

World Malaria Day is observed on 25th April to recognize the global efforts made to control the vector-borne disease. It highlights the need for commitment and investment for malaria prevention and control. According to the World Health Organization, around 200 million cases of the disease are found every year despite the efforts to curb it. Malaria poses a threat to a major part of the world’s population. While the numbers are alarming, proper knowledge and basic precautions can help alleviate the risk of contracting the disease.

Malaria is a parasitic disease caused by Plasmodium parasites that are spread by the bite of the female mosquito, Anopheles. Common symptoms of malaria include fever, headache and chills. They usually appear 10-15 days after the mosquito bite. There are several myths about malaria that keep floating around in the world that definitely need addressing to understand what we are dealing with. 

Here are some of the most common myths about malaria you should know the truth about. 

Myth 1: You’re immune if you get malaria once. 

Being infected once doesn’t make you immune to the disease. It is not safe to assume that you don’t need protection if you have been bitten once. 

Myth 2: You’re safe in air-conditioned rooms 

Yes, staying in air-conditioned rooms may reduce the risk of being bitten by a mosquito at night. But you will still need extra protection to safeguard yourself against malaria. 

Myth 3: Malaria isn’t fatal

Not every case is fatal, but malaria can kill if not treated in time.

Myth 4: Malaria doesn’t spread in the dry season 

Even though mosquitoes are more active in the rainy season that doesn’t mean that they aren’t active in the dry season. You should always keep yourself protected from malaria by practicing the necessary precautionary measures. 

Myth 5: Risks are the same for everyone 

Young children and infants are more vulnerable to the disease than adults. This happens majorly because their immune system isn’t fully developed. 

Myth 6: Mosquitoes only bite in the night 

The Anopheles mosquito that transmits malaria mostly bite at night. But Aedes mosquito, which can cause dengue, Zika, Chikungunya is active mostly during the day.

Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani’s Laxmmi Bomb to skip theatrical release & go digital amid COVID 19 crisis?

Amid Coronavirus or COVID 19 crisis, Bollywood has been severely hit as several films have been postponed owing to the theatre shut down. However, digital OTT platforms have become popular and now, amid rumours of theatres being shut for a long period, reports about Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani starrer Laxmmi Bomb releasing on Disney Plus Hotstar are doing rounds. Yes, Raghava Lawrence directorial that completed its shooting in March, stars Akshay and Kiara as the leads. 

Now, as per a report in Mid-Day, the makers of the film are in talks with Disney Plus Hotstar for releasing the film on the digital platform. The report stated that Akshay, makers and director Raghava are reportedly debating a release on the OTT platform and may consider Disney Plus Hotstar’s offer as a lot of post-production work on the film is remaining and amid the Coronavirus lockdown, everyone from the team is working from home to get the film ready by June. The report stated that Akshay and makers are in talks for a digital release as the lockdown is till May 3 and theatres may remain shut down even beyond that due to social distancing.

A source told the daily, “Akshay wants to make sure none of the invested parties make losses, and that the movie reaches a wide audience. While Disney+Hotstar ensures a worldwide reach, making the film available across small towns in India will be a concern for them.” Well, if this ends up happening, Akshay will be one of the biggest superstars to opt for a digital release as opposed to a theatrical release. The superstar also has ventured into OTT space with his series The End that is still in the works and had announced about it with a huge bang. The source also said, “Although currently, the lockdown is on till May 3, theatres may continue to remain closed to ensure social distancing. In such a scenario, the team may consider having a direct-to-web release.”

The film is a remake of a Tamil horror-comedy, Muni 2: Kanchana and the shoot had kicked off last year. The film stars Akshay as a man who is possessed by a transgender ghost. The story revolves around the funny situations that arise due to this. The shoot had completed at the beginning of March 2020 and when the wrap was announced, Akshay and his team celebrated the same on the sets. The film was supposed to release on May 22, 2020. However, due to the Coronavirus lockdown, now, the makers may opt for a different route.
