It's a season of firsts on Koffee with Karan. Today's episode saw Karan Johar getting chatty with Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. We knew this episode wouldn't be about revelations and controversial statements but that didn't deter our excitement because watching Aamir and Kiran get up, close and personal isn't a sight you see too often!
The show started with Karan asking Aamir why it took so long for him to come on the show. Aamir readily answered saying that it was because he didn't know Karan that time and didn't even like him much. That itself gave us a feel of what the next one hour will be about. Yes, no diplomatic answers, no forced conversations, no fake talk - brace yourself for Aamir Khan who speaks his mind and has no qualms in doing so. Aamir spoke about his choice of films and how he has the courage to follow his heart and do what makes him happy. He isn't the quintessential superstar and doesn't even want to be one.
He also spoke about good friend Salman Khan and how their equation has changed over the years. Not many know that Salman walked into Aamir's life when he was going through a horrible phase. It was during that time that their friendship grew and strengthened over time. But what about Shah Rukh Khan? Aamir agreed to be having "genuine regard and respect" for him but also said that there had been moments of stress in their relationship.
A few minutes to their conversation and that's when Kiran Rao entered looking uber smart. She brought in a different aura on the show and as Aamir revealed later, she also got with her an "infectious energy" into his life. Kiran who is rather new to the glamorous world was fun to watch. She's witty, bubbly and we loved the equation the couple shares.
Even though Aamir has been around for many years, it was today that we felt that we finally got to see another side of the star - the adorable husband who tells his wife everything, his choice of girls, the prankster in him and a lot other things we never knew! There were also other fun segments like the film quiz, Imran Khan sharing his memories with his mamu and the best being watching Aamir's leading ladies talk about him and his small quirks.
