Power house actress Vidya Balan recently became the face of filmmaker Subhash Ghai's meditation centre. Ghai, who mentioned that this was a very generous move by Vidya was all praises for the actress.

"Vidya is the only non-cosmetic actress in the industry. Her knowledge about India's culture is profound. She has a deep connection with our traditions. While most actresses would have asked, 'Am I getting Rs 2 crore or Rs 5 crore?' Vidya came on board so she could learn more about meditation," he explained.

Talking about his meditation centre he said, "Actors go abroad for a detox retreat, they can now come here to relax under the stars in the I-Pray room. We are not affiliated to any religion, we will just have spiritual music playing there."

Ghai's meditation centre has a prayer room and a centre for classical music.

Priyanka Chopra is back on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’. The actress is shooting for the movie in Film City, Mumbai, but without her co-stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.

The ‘Exotic’ singer took to microblogging website Twitter to share the news and a photograph from the sets. She tweeted, “Love being back to shoot #BajiraoMastani ! Missed Sanjay sir n his brilliance! So much more to go!!”

While Deepika has left for Tokyo to shoot for ‘Tamasha’, Ranveer is on a bed rest for four weeks because of his shoulder surgery.

The actor in a Viber chat said that it’s a tough film to shoot but everyone is putting in a lot of effort and that passion is showing on the screen. He added that it’s a once in a lifetime kind of film and once in a lifetime character for him to play.

A lavish set has been created in Film city which includes Mastani Mahal, a palace built by Bajirao for his second wife Mastani.

‘Bajirao Mastani’ will see Ranveer essay Maratha warrior Bajirao and Deepika will play the role of Mastani. Priyanka will essay the role Bajirao’s first wife Kashibai.

On the movies front, Sidharth, who was last seen on the silver screen in ‘Ek Villain’, will soon be seen on the silver screen in Karan Malhotra’s ‘Brothers’. Kangana Ranaut has never been shy of giving bold statements and she proved it again today. She was present at a five star hotel in Mumbai to launch Anupama Chopra's book, ‘The Front Row: Conversations on Cinema.’ Before launching the book, Anupama started doing a Q and A session with Kangana, Rajeev Masand and Arunabh Kumar. During this, she asked Kangana about her opinion on the on-going trend of paid media stories.

Kangana promptly replied, "I really don't know what to say. I feel itis very harmful for the business aspect of a film. You spend so much money buying these Media Net stories or full page ads, you can rather save this money and put it in the making or marketing of the film.”

She went on to add that these media net stories actually do not benefit the film. If you see, a film like Queen did well only due to a good word of mouth promotion as well as its strong content, rather than any media stories. She also mentioned, “But some people are interested in the buying part of things, they want to buy everything from the movie reviews to the media net to the opinions and so on. It's hard for small film-makers to survive in such situations."

Today the trend of manufactured PR images is also in trend. Commenting on this, Kangana said, “How much ever you think that you don't care about what people think, at the end it actually does matter. When you are in an industry where image is everything, then this means a lot to you. People identify you from the roles that you enact and the brands that you associate with. In this time when everything spreads like wild fire, PR images does matter.”

Many celebrities defer to answer such questions, but Kangana took it in her stride and answered them gracefully.

'The Front Row: Conversations on Cinema' is a collection of Anupama Chopras’ televised interviews with both Bollywood and Hollywood personalities. It was one of those days today when a couple of our Bollywood stars had put on their smiley faces to avoid an awkward situation. It was the grand opening of the very entertaining IPL ceremony and hosting it was none other than Kareena Kapoor's handsome husband, Saif Ali Khan.

As for Saif's slip, it did not go unnoticed among colleagues. The onlooker also mentioned that Shahid was seen 'discussing' this slip of Saif and probably having a fun chat with his buddies on the matter.

Well, awkward or not, the stars certainly don't harbor ill-feelings towards each other. That is sure from the fact that Bebo and Shahid are all set to shine in Udta Punjab, isn't it?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is making her comeback with Jazbaa, is leaving no stone unturned for the film. She is already working around the clock for the film, even missing a few events where the whole Bachchan family appeared such as the Mijwan Fashion Show.

We now come to know that Aishwarya, who was supposed to fly to Delhi on Tuesday morning, was forced to change her plans at the last minute due to a technical glitch. The whole family was heading for Amitabh Bachchan’s Padma award ceremony which will take place today.

A close source mentioned, “Aishwarya had an important scene in a railway yard, where she had to scream and deliver some emotional dialogues. It took her one full day for this shot and it came out beautifully. However, the next day, we learnt that the studio had lost the entire footage.”

Jazbaa director Sanjay Gupta confirms the story, saying, “ This is called the Murphy’s law — just when she outperforms herself in really tough and difficult conditions, we lose the footage due to a technical glitch.”

Consequently, Ash cancelled her ticket and reshot the whole sequence. She then took a night flight to Delhi.

Well we must say she was very professional and considerate in such conditions. Hats off to her.

No actor from Pakistan in recent years has made the kind of impact that Fawad Khan made with Khubsoorat.

For this, Fawad cannot thank the Khubsoorat producers Anil and Rhea Kapoor enough.

Now, we hear Fawad is so much in demand in Bollywood that he has no time to do the Kapoors’ next production The Battle Of Bittora which he had initially (though verbally) agreed to do.

Says a source, “Fawad is suddenly a hot proposition in Bollywood. Every major production house is wooing him. He has agreed to do Karan Johar’s Kapoor & Sons to be directed by Shakun Batra, and Farhan Akhtar’s production Mr Chaloo to be directed by Reema Kagti.”

In Mr Chaloo, Fawad would be paired with Priyanka Chopra.

Fawad’s role was originally offered to Saif Ali Khan who backed out due to monetary differences. Shahid Kapoor was under negotiation after Saif. But he didn’t want to do a role rejected by Saif.

Fawad’s entry into Mr Chaloo means, the end of Reema Kagti’s ordeal of waiting for a replacement hero after Saif backed out so unprofessionally leaving the project in the lurch.

Freida Pinto and Dev Patel fell in love while working together in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The couple was in a relationship for over six years, however, they called it quits in December 2014.

In an interview with USA Today, the pretty actress said that even after their break-up she and Dev are still best friends and that is not going to change.

“Everybody has their own little discoveries to make. Their own surprises, their own disappointments, and they're all part and parcel of life. There is no way one person can sit down and go, 'But why did this happen to me?' Or, 'It was all going well, what the hell happened?' Or, 'No, this just can't be,' the denial of it,” she said.

President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday conferred Padma Vibhushan on Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

Padma Vibushan was also conferred on Malur Ramaswamy Srinivasan for his work in science and engineering and jurist K.K. Venugopal for public affairs.

The awards were conferred at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan, and was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several union ministers.

The awards were announced on the eve of this year's Republic Day.

Apart from Padma Vibhushan, the president conferred awards in other categories of Padma awards, namely Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is back on big screen and with a busy schedule she has been running errands at home as well. The actress has perfected her timing between daughter Aaradhya and ‘Jazbaa’ schedule.

Our sources from the set informed that she starts her day early and gets into hair and makeup at her home. Then tends to her daughter and drops her off to school and she rushes to ‘Jazbaa’ set. “In between her break she drives back to school to fetch her daughter and drops her off at her mother’s place,” informed our sources.

And sometimes, Aishwarya’s mother Vrinda Rai also brings Aaradhya to the sets. Aishwarya’s schedule has been quite hectic as she finishes shoot and rushes back to her daughter to read and tell her bedtime stories and again is up at the crack of dawn. Sources also said, “The last few days have been even more exhausting as she has been filming some very crucial scenes which involve a lot of chases, running around and dust.”

Amitabh Bachchan was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan award on Wednesday. The Bachchan family attended the ceremony that was held at the capital.

Jaya Bachchan along with Abhishek and Aishwarya were present to witness the occasion. Amitabh’s grand daughter Navya Naveli was spotted chatting and giggling with their family members at the occasion.

Earlier, Abhishek Bachchan posted a pic of the invitation card on a social networking site along with a picture of him going Delhi-bound.

Saif Ali Khan has received flak on social media & from IPL fans over lacklustre hosting of the IPL opening ceremony. Not just the Nawab, Bollywood stars Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan & Anushka Sharma, have also been criticised collectively for an unimpressive opening ceremony.

Sudden rains & last minute confusion over the show’s flow impacted the live programme. Saif said, "The whole show was very nearly cancelled...it was raining..equipment was ruined...the whole flow went for a toss...I am actually amazed we managed to put up the show that we did given the technical difficulties...I don't want to make excuses...I am sure the channel and organisers all wanted the best for the audiences...but unfortunately all the chaos was transmitted live...editing would have made it much better..the players looked great and I hope the cricket coming up on the Pepsi IPL will more than make up for any disappointment felt by TV watchers...I am sure Sony, BCCI and the event organisers all feel the same way...you had to see the conditions to believe it!!! Good luck to all the teams.”

Sources from the venue of opening night say that at the last minute, the show’s flow was altered. The teleprompter, which guides a host on the flow of events & crucial information, stopped working. Despite many hassles, Saif sportingly tried to hold it together despite the technical glitches. The other three Bollywood acts too dealt with last minute difficulties on the ground.

Despite the criticism, Saif enjoyed hosting the ceremony for a special reason- Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He said, “I was happy to interact with Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the ceremony. As a son of a former cricket captain who always conducted himself with great dignity, I have the highest respect for Dhoni. I particularly admire the speech that he gave after the semi final at the World Cup semi final.”

Shah Rukh Khan is that star in tinselville who has time and again proven his acting caliber and commercial value too. He has done a handful of offbeat films in his career and whenever brought something new on the table, all lauded for him.

This year this Khan has two releases, Maneesh Sharma’s Fan and Rahul Dholakia’s Raees. Both the films have interesting plots and are different from one another in content but share almost the same commercial value. Fan is a tale of comedy of errors and will have SRK in double role- one as a superstar and another one as a fan.

In Raees, Shah Rukh would be seen in the shoes of a Gujarati don and he deems it to be an earthy role. But the actor seems extremely upbeat about his role. In an interview to DNA he was quoted, "I have not even done a rehearsal for the film, but I can assure you that no one can do the film like me. It sounds extremely pompous and arrogant, but I am being humble at the same time”.

He further added that, "I am not surprised because Rahul (Dholakia) came to me with this film. I am surprised that not many filmmakers dare to make such films anymore. I wonder why more such films don't come to me. But then, I also understand that I can only work on one film. I work for 16-18 hours a day and I get less time to focus on multiple films at the same time".

Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has already created a huge buzz. And fans have been eagerly waiting for the trailer of the movie. Well, here’s a good news for all the Salman fans. The makers are planning to release the trailer of the movie in May.

According to DNA, a source said that the makers of the film are planning to release the trailer either with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gabbar’ or Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Bombay Velvet’.

The source added, “Though Salman shares a better equation with Akshay, it is most likely that the trailer will be attached with Gabbar. However, a final call will be taken by end of the week when they will have a little more clarity.”

Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ also features Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The movie is scheduled for an Eid release.
